Cub Scouts

We are so very excited to announce that Jaron and Joshua are Cub Scouts! YAY! This is one of the big things we've been looking forward to about the first grade -- the grade we can join Cub Scouts! We attended an information meeting after school one day. They spoke to the parents in the cafeteria while the took the boys off into the gym to build air rockets - basically these paper tubes made to look like rockets that they pump up with air to send them flying into the air. Total boys stuff, right? Right. So, that's all it took to sell the boys on Cub Scouts. Meanwhile, the talk to us parents about camping trips, rocket derby, pinewood derby, hiking, etc., etc., etc., and so Dad is completely sold too.
Every Monday night we have our den meetings and once a month we have Pack meetings where everyone in the pack gathers and announcements are made and any awards are given out. The picture below is the introduction of Den 4 at our first Pack Meeting, with their Den Leader, Mr. Clint and their Assistant Den Leader, Mr. Danny.

Our first major goal is to earn our Bobcat badge. This is the very first thing all Cub Scouts must accomplish to move up the ranks. I'm so proud of how well the boys are doing. The steps to completing the Bobcat badge are to learn the salute, the sign, the handshake, the motto, the Promise and the Law of the Pack. We've got everything down except for the Law of the Pack. I was waiting for them to really have the motto and Promise memorized first before throwing more words at them to memorize. They are doing great and we are so proud of them! Their Bobcat ceremony is on October 25th, so we'll be sure and post pictures!

Our first Cub Scout campout is at Canyon of the Eagles, which is an LCRA park just outside of Burnet. We're so excited and can't wait to post pictures!
